Product overview

Rygg HEATE™ is a thermo-performance cream designed for pre-sport preparation. It is formulated with methyl salicylate (200 mg/g) and menthol (40 mg/g) and will improve your muscle performance, endurance and stamina.

Rygg KHULE™ is a cryo-active recovery gel designed for post-session recovery. It contains menthol (70 mg/g) and will assist your post exercise recovery and relive mild joint inflammation.

Rygg HEATE™ is built for pre-activity preparation with a warming sensation. Rygg KHULE™ is designed for post-activity recovery with a strong cooling sensation. Many athletes use Rygg HEATE™ before training and Rygg KHULE™ afterwards.

How to use

Apply an ample amount 15-30 minutes before activity to large muscle groups. Massage until absorbed, then wash hands after application.

Yes. Daily use is okay and the products are designed to work together.

Both products are fast-acting and quick-drying, with effects beginning in minutes.

The formulas are designed to avoid an oily residue and reduce splitting when you sweat.

How it works

Methyl salicylate, the active ingredient in Rygg HEATE™, works by activating TRPV1 to trigger vasodilation, helping saturate muscles with oxygenated blood and preparing joints for activity.

Menthol, the active ingredient in Rygg KHULE™, works by activating TRPM8 to produce a strong cooling effect associated with vasoconstriction (often described as an "ice bath in a bottle").

How it feels

A warming sensation that builds as it absorbs. The warmth can feel stronger with friction, exercise, or when the area is covered by clothing.

A strong cooling menthol sensation. Cooling often feels more intense with airflow, sweating, or post-workout body heat.

Most users feel the cooling or warming sensation within minutes. The intensity depends on how much you apply, your skin sensitivity, and whether the area is exposed to airflow.

Duration varies. For consistent results, start with a small amount, assess after 10 minutes and adjust dosage.

Both Rygg HEATE™ and Rygg KHULE™ are designed to avoid an oily residue and reduce splitting when you sweat. The result is a fast drying formula that applies cleanly to the skin.

Safety and suitability

Rygg HEATE™ and Rygg KHULE™ are not suitable for children aged 6 years and under. Age directions can differ by product. Follow the product directions and warnings for age and use.

No. It is not recommended to use Rygg HEATE™ or Rygg KHULE™ while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Both Rygg HEATE™ and Rygg KHULE™ are formulated for all skin types and described as hypoallergenic. If you have sensitive skin, patch test first and follow the directions for use.

Expiry dates are printed on the tubes. Rygg also recommends using products within 6 months of opening to maintain freshness and performance.

No. Avoid combining topical analgesics with external heat (heating pads, heat wraps, sauna) or tight bandaging. Stacking heat can intensify the sensation and increase the risk of skin irritation and burns.

No. Do not apply to wounds, damaged skin, irritated skin, or freshly shaved areas. Wait until the skin barrier is intact before application.

Stop use and wash the area with mild soap and water. If irritation is severe or does not settle, seek medical advice.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have aspirin or salicylate sensitivity, are taking blood thinners, or have a medical condition that affects skin integrity, check with a healthcare professional before using topical analgesics.

No. Keep away from eyes, mucus membrane and sensitive areas. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

Clean sport and quality

Rygg products are batch tested with Informed Sport - a program designed for athletes by testing finished product batches for a broad panel of banned substances. Currently, Rygg HEATE and Rygg KHULE are the only topical analgesics in the world to have an “every-batch-testing’ level of certification.

Informed Sport is recognised worldwide by a growing number of National Anti Doping Organisations (NADOs), including UK Anti-Doping (UKAD), the Institute of National Anti-Doping Organisations (iNADO) and sporting bodies, such as the English Institute of Sport (EIS), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Several nutrition industry organisations also recognise Informed Sport, including the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA). For a full list of organisations, please see www.sport.wetestyoutrust.com/educatin/global-recognition.

Use the batch code on your product and verify it in the Informed Sport database before competition. Keep a record of the batch you used.

Athletes can be exposed to contamination risk from manufacturing variability. Batch testing adds an extra layer of protection by checking the exact batch you are using, not just a one-off sample.

All Rygg products are proudly made in Australia.

Regulatory and manufacturing

All Rygg products are presented as listed medicines on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).

The TGA is an Australian government authority responsible for evaluation, assessing and monitoring products that are defined as therapeutic goods. They regulate medicines, medical devices and biologics to help Australians stay healthy and safe.

Indications are statements that describe the specific therapeutic use for a medicine. The TGA describes a medicine claimed purpose or health benefit. At the time of listing a medicine in the ARTG, sponsors must certify that they hold evidence to support any indications and claims made about their medicine.

GMP describes a set of principals and procedures that when followed helps ensure that therapeutic goods are of high quality. The Department of Health, through the TGA, administers the Australian regulatory framework for therapeutic goods, providing assurance to the community that medicines, whether of Australian or overseas origin are manufactured in accordance with a formal Code of Good Manufacturing Practice
Code (Code of GMP).

Choosing the right product (pre vs post)

Use Rygg HEATE™ pre-activity when you want a warming “ready-to-move” feel. Apply 15–30 minutes before training to the main muscle groups you’ll use, massage until absorbed, and wash hands after.

After training, most people choose Rygg KHULE™ for its cooling feel and recovery properties. If you prefer warmth for stiffness (or you’re doing gentle mobilit and want a warming sensation), Rygg HEATE™ can suit some situations, but Rygg KHULE™ is the typical post-session
choice.

For post-session comfort, most people choose Rygg KHULE™ for its strong cooling sensation and recovery properties. A simple routine is: shower/towel off → apply Rygg KHULE™ to worked areas → light mobility/foam rolling for a post exercise recovery routine in conjunction with
rehydration + electrolytes.

Dosage and application tips

Start with a thin, even layer over the target area, wait a few minutes to feel the onset, then add a small amount only if needed. Using too much too soon can make the sensation feel stronger than expected, especially under clothing.

You can apply Rygg before compression gear. The quick-drying and non-greasy formula allows users to apply the products before taping/strapping. However, tight and/or occlusive layers can intensify the sensation. Start lighter than usual the first time and avoid combining Rygg HEATE™ with extra external heat sources.

Yes. Rygg products can be used alongside stretching, massage, and physio.

A practical order for typical use is: Apply Rygg HEATE™ pre-session (for warming) → train → gentle mobility/soft tissue work → apply Rygg KHULE™ post-session (if cooling).

Keep the skin clean/dry before application for better feel and faster absorption.

Recovery stacking (cold exposure)

Yes, you can. But expect the sensation to be intense, because Rygg KHULE™ is already like an ‘ice bath in a bottle.’ Applying Rygg KHULE™ before a cold shower is a common alternative to ice baths, and is a recovery staple for our contact sport athletes.

If you’re new to Rygg KHULE™, apply a smaller amount first, avoiding broken/irritated skin, and don’t layer aggressively under tight clothing straight away.

Rygg KHULE™ is often called “an ice bath in a bottle”. The gel provides a similar feel, a strong cooling effect, without the need for full-body cold-water exposure. This distinction matters because multiple studies suggest regular cold-water immersion after resistance training can blunt hypertrophy-related signalling and muscle growth adaptations.

This is often attributed as a result of the cortisol spike after a drop in core temperature. Rygg KHULE™ aims to deliver an “ice bath” style recovery through peripheral vasoconstriction (via TRPM8 activation), but without the need for cold whole body immersion. Thus, it’s not expected to affect training adaptations in the same, regressive way as cold water ice baths. To put it simply, Rygg KHULE™ won’t kill your gains.

Athlete compliance and sensitive groups

Use products that carry Informed Sport batch testing, verify your specific batch in the Informed Sport database, and keep a simple record: date used, product, batch code, and event window.

BLOOD THINNERS:

Yes, this is a caution group. Rygg flags blood thinners as reasons to ask a healthcare professional before using topical analgesics.

ASPIRIN/SALICYLATE SENSITIVITY:

Users often utilise Rygg HEATE™ as an alternative to aspirin tablets/anti-inflammatory oral medication. However, if you have a known aspirin/salicylate sensitivity and are unsure about use, treat this as a caution scenario and seek medical advice before use.

General use and positioning

Rygg products are typically used on muscle and joint areas like back, shoulders, legs, and knees. Avoid eyes, mucous membranes, and broken/irritated skin, and wash hands after application.

Rygg products are presented as being listed medicine on the ARTG, which is tied to therapeutic-good style requirements and compliant indications/claims. This is a different category from standard cosmetics and showcases the high, medical grade standards by which all Rygg products are manufactured to.

Store in a cool, dry place where possible and avoid prolonged high-heat exposure (e.g. leaving it in a hot car or in direct sunlight). Check the printed expiry and aim to use within 6 months of opening for best freshness/performance.
